I was getting rather sick of my old website with all the cutesy handwritten nonsense and the moleskin notebook motif. Although Maria TZEKA, my life-long graphic designer and friend, did a wonderful job with that site it was beginning to feel stale. It felt like me three years ago — like I just saw The Royal Tenenbaums and decided to ape it’s aesthetic for my lackluster/content-light undergrad portfolio. And screw that kid.

Long story short, Maria and I updated it. Without further adieu I bring you eddieokeefe.com 2.0. Check it out, baby childs! Photo courtesy of my buddy, Michael RUNION.

Check out the new music video for The ORWELLS’ hit song, “Under The Flowers.” I directed this sepia toned weird, old American teenage freak out while I was home in CHICAGO last week. In case you didn’t already know, Baby CHUCK (guitarist) is my lil bro. As you can hear, I’ve taught him well.

Hey babies,

So we’re putting The GHOSTS back online because these festivals are totally ultra bogus and who needs ‘em. You guys gave us our initial success and we appreciate that immensely.

So without further adeui.

Oh, and, check out a podcast interview I did about about The Ghosts over at Director’s Notes.

Dear friends, fans, enemies and Internet trolls,

It gives me great pleasure to announce my new film “Shangri-La Suite.” A movie about sex, drugs, and killing Elvis.

It’s easily the strongest screenplay I’ve ever co-written and it will undoubtably be the best film in The TEENAGE Head canon. Which brings me to another exciting tidbit — this isn’t really a Teenage Head film.

Shangri-La Suite is my thesis project at the American Film Institute. And since I’ve now bowed down to the man there are some consequences to the way we have to raise money for this thing. The biggest difference between the pre-production and fundraising process for Shangri-La Suite compared to The GHOSTS is that we aren’t allowed to use Kickstarter (some tax reason nonsense). And as a result, if you’d like to donate money — and yes, we need money (lots and lots of it actually), we ask that you do so through the secure “Donate” feature located on the official site for the film, here.

We couldn’t have made The GHOSTS happen without the generous contributions of those who believed in the project. I hope that you’ll consider again donating to my new film. Any pledge will help, big or small. I shutter to give the exact number we’re looking to raise because it’s, uh, rather ridiculous. Let’s just say it’s about five times that of The GHOSTS’ budget. And if you really feel like Googling, you can find that number somewhere.

I know there are plenty of other places your 5 or 100 or 1,000 dollars could and probably should go. Hey, I mean look, cancer still doesn’t have a cure — I totally get it. But if you like pretty girls and guns and lovers on the run and Elvis Presley and Rock ‘n’ Roll and blood and sex; If you know that feeling of chasing after an elusive dream which is always just out of reach than maybe, just maybe Shangri-La Suite is something you’d be interested in supporting.

Right now there aren’t incentives to donate the way that there are on Kickstarter. However, we hope to add this feature in the near future. And as a bonus, once we get around to implementing that, your donation will be retroactively included in on those rewards. For right now all I can promise is that your money will be well spent on locations/costumes/clearance rights/talent/equipment/etc. I can also promise that by donating you will become a fundamental part of what will be a great movie.

You can keep tabs on Shangri-La Suite by checking in on this here blog, visiting the official site or by “Liking” us on Facebook. Of course we hope you do all three.

Thanks for reading and thanks for giving a shit about what I do. I can’t believe how many people watched The GHOSTS on Vimeo. I can’t believe how many people read this blog every day and care about our projects. It’s incredible. We couldn’t do it without you.

Best,

Eddie O’KEEFE

Watch me awkwardly fumble through this interview. Speech classes in elementary school apparently did very little for me.

5.27.2011

As some of you know, I’m currently enrolled at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California. I just wrapped up my first year there and will be spending next year working on my thesis film (more to come on that in the next few months!). Above is my final project (cycle film) at AFI this year.

I haven’t uploaded my previous cycle films because a). I haven’t been tremendously proud of them, and b). We’re techinically not allowed to put these online. So if the above video is private when you get around to checking it out, it’s because someone at AFI sent me a cease and desist letter.

Hope you dig.

Magnet Magazine is premiering Gold Motel’s “Cold Shoulders” music video today. I kinda dig it. And I say that not only because I directed it, nor because I’m dating the lead singer and cousins with the guitarist (and secretly having an affair with the bassist). I say that because I actually think it’s the best of the Gold Motel videos I’ve had the privilege to direct so far…and because Luke LUCAS and Jack GUIMON are comedic geniuses (you’ll see).

Check it out over at Magnet or embedded below….
